An Independence Result for Intuitionistic Bounded Arithmetic
نویسنده
چکیده
It is shown that the intuitionistic theory of polynomial induction on positive Π1 (coNP) formulas does not prove the sentence ¬¬∀x, y∃z ≤ y(x ≤ |y| → x = |z|). This implies the unprovability of the scheme ¬¬PIND(Σ 1 ) in the mentioned theory. However, this theory contains the sentence ∀x, y¬¬∃z ≤ y(x ≤ |y| → x = |z|). The above independence result is proved by constructing an ω-chain of submodels of a countable model of S2+Ω3+¬exp such that none of the worlds in the chain satisfies the sentence, and interpreting the chain as a Kripke model.

Preservation theorems for bounded formulas
In this paper we naturally define when a theory has bounded quantifier elimination, or is bounded model complete. We give several equivalent conditions for a theory to have each of these properties. These results provide simple proofs for some known results in the model theory of the bounded arithmetic theories like CPV and PV1. We use the mentioned results to obtain some independence results i...
متن کاملInterval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation methodology for decision making with a prioritization of criteria
Interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IVIFSs), a generalization of fuzzy sets, is characterized by an interval-valued membership function, an interval-valued non-membership function. The objective of this paper is to deal with criteria aggregation problems using IVIFSs where there exists a prioritization relationship over the criteria.Based on the ${L}$ukasiewicz triangular norm, we first p...
متن کاملArithmetic Aggregation Operators for Interval-valued Intuitionistic Linguistic Variables and Application to Multi-attribute Group Decision Making
The intuitionistic linguistic set (ILS) is an extension of linguisitc variable. To overcome the drawback of using single real number to represent membership degree and non-membership degree for ILS, the concept of interval-valued intuitionistic linguistic set (IVILS) is introduced through representing the membership degree and non-membership degree with intervals for ILS in this paper. The oper...
متن کاملModel theory of bounded arithmetic with applications to independence results
In this paper we apply some new and some old methods in order to construct classical and intuitionistic models for theories of bounded arithmetic. We use these models to obtain proof theoretic consequences. In particular, we construct an ωchain of models of BASIC such that the union of its worlds satisfies S2 but none of its worlds satisfies the sentence ∀x∃y(x = 0 ∨ x = y + 1). Interpreting th...
متن کاملTwo General Results on Intuitionistic Bounded Theories
We study, within the framework of intuitionistic logic, two well-known general results of (classical logic) bounded arithmetic. Firstly, Parikh’s theorem on the existence of bounding terms for the provably total functions. Secondly, the result which states that adding the scheme of bounded collection to (suitable) bounded theories does not yield new Π2 consequences. Mathematics Subject Classifi...
